20' DC / 40' DC :Although in some of business writing, this type of containers are called “dry van” or “standard”, usually the term “general purpose” is more convenient. Compatible with international use, their external dimensions for length and width are constant, their height could be different. They have two doors, only one of them could be opened outwards. When their doors are shut, they have water and air tight qualities.    The material used in the production of containers is selected by considering the carrying capacity and the volume. Generally steel and aluminium are used. The capacity of steel containers is less because steel is heavier.

20' Open Top / 40' Open Top  :They have the same length and width dimensions of the typical general purpose containers, only difference is that they do not have           “fixed top”. They are used when a crane is required for loading the goods which are       such long/wide that can not fit into the container from the door. Mostly, machines, marble plates, aluminium profiles, etc. are loaded. Open top container are also usually used for over height cargo. After loading, it is covered tightly by tarpaulin. The floor is thicker because they carry heavy loads. Surcharge is added to the freight because they are in special equipment class.
